Floor painting

More floor painting.

Had Yola helping me on the mini again today. She was busy cleaning old bitchumin off the inside floor. The gap between the floor and the tray isn't that big. I've never stuck my head in there, but she had no fear. Called it getting intimate with the mini. What a trooper. It was over 30 degrees today, especially in the garage. I think she is a keeper. Or maybe she was there just to get high off the prepsol? :D

Painted the rest of the inside floor with some rust guard primer. Will over coat with the black stuff (more rust gaurd stuff). Although it does look very cool in two tone.

Patching & painting floor

At the bottom of the firewall the floor panels overlap the firewall panel. This is also where the back of the engine subframe bolts on to the car. On the drivers side both were very rusty and had to be chopped out. Earlier in the year I butt welded the new floor pan up on the firewall. But I really wanted to add some more strength there, especially as I intend to put some go fast bits in it. So today I welded a good big patch over that area.

It really looks the part.

More time spent wire brushing the floor.

Before finally some paint.

Quick job with the brush, lots of runs as you can see, but should be under tar and carpet soon.

Rebuilding Seat Frame

As a part of replacing some of the rusty floor, I had to remove the passenger side custom seat frame that were put in by a previous owner. They were quite a neat design out of angle iron.

After welding panels for so long it was joy to run a nice bead on some decent thickness steel:

More rust holes

I've been stripping paint, and noticed a new whole after the wire wheel went over some part of the inner dash/firewall.

[I only remember to take a photo of it after I started to cut it out]

With the car on it's side, I can get into the gaurd and clear up that side.

Welded the patch in:

Not that neat, but will be behind carpet so doesn't matter.

Rusty bits

Noticed the pile of rusty bit's I had chopped out of the mini collecting near the bin.

Not all of it. Some of the larger bits got chucked last time I moved house.
