Hi build primer

Hi build primer went on today. First I gave the etch primer a light rub with some wet'n'dry.

Had the 2.0mm bit in the HVLP gun, and it worked much nicer. Still need a bigger compressor.

Painted the outer roof, beaver panels, dash rail, and inside roof with the mini on it's side. Hence the tyres all about.

Next up I will be bogging in all the dents and rust repairs, fitting up the W&P arches, before another coat of hi build.

Still haven't chosen a colour yet!

Also need to weld some rust repairs into the bonnet and etch prime that. Need to find a replacement for or fix my rear doors. Need to scuff up my front doors ready for paint.

POR-15 & prep

Weather was better this weekend. Saturday there were spots of light rain so I was wheeling the monster truck in and out of the garage as it came and went.

Finished stripping and sanding.

POR-15 on all the rust or exposed bits: roof & bonnet gutters, front & rear beaver panels, sils, seams, firewall etc. POR-15 needs a tie coat within 1.5 hours. The black bits are the fresh POR-15, the grey bits are older bits of POR-15 already coated with primer.

And then I got busy with the etch primer:

Pretty much all the firewall is POR-15 with etch primer over the top.

Rear number plate mounts & Broken screws

Managed to spend a couple of hours in the garage on Sunday. Most of that was cleaning up.

Made up some rear number plate brackets.

And getting out some broken tiny screws.
